ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Digital games are one of the most immersive learning tools available. Immersion through digital games provides valuable learning environments if they are designed appropriately to motivate the learner to persistently re-engage. It is not the game itself that provides the motivation but the quality of the game play and the environment this creates. A key aspect of games is that people proceed in games by doing things, and this experiential quality lies at the very core of game design. A game is not a game if there is no interaction – in other words, the environment must change as a result of player actions, and digital games are popular precisely because of the experience they provide.

  • In this session, you will learn about:
  • The importance of play, immersion, interaction, and games to increase learning
  • The current popular digital games and game types
  • Immersive game elements from these popular digital games that can be replicated for training
  • Best practices for building immersive learning
