TOPIC: Cost and Time to Develop eLearning

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

A brief presentation will introduce the key e-learning roles, time and cost elements proposed by the Chapman Alliance research study in Fall, 2010. A role play of SME interaction will follow as it has a significant impact on the time to create e-Learning. Each panel member will then express their view and experience with roles played, costing and time to create e-learning, followed by questions from the audience and an interactive discussion among the audience and panel members. The panel members represent small and medium sized e-learning consulting businesses, as well as corporate.

 

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Anne Groetsch, MS, Senior Instructional Designer for Honeywell Building Solutions. She primarily designs and develops e-learning for Honeywell field technicians and customers, but also jumps in to assist with ILT courses and development of online assessments as required. Before Honeywell, she worked in training/technical writing roles in numerous companies/industries in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud areas. Her industry experience includes retail, legal publishing, business software development, e-learning vendor consultant, direct sales, and manufacturing. Anne is a member of DLF, ISPI, MN-ISPI, PACT, the e-Learning Guild, and Toastmasters. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Mass Communication and a Master of Science degree in Training and Human Resource Development with an emphasis in Instructional Design from St. Cloud State University.

Carole Bagley, PhD, President and Team Lead for The Technology Group, Inc. and holds an adjunct teaching position with the University of St. Thomas. With more than 30 years in the field of instructional technology, Dr. Bagley has madesignificant contributions to the field by providing project management, e-Learning leadership, instructional design, technology integration, strategic planning, workshops, seminars, publications, and keynote presentations for numerous corporations, international law firms, US Govt. agencies, school districts, and professionalmorganizations throughout the US and internationally in Australia, Tanzania, Scotland, and Russia. Dr. Bagley has been the recipient of numerous honors including: Outstanding International ISPI (Intl. Society for Performance Improvement) member, Outstanding Computer Based Education Professional for ASTD, Invited Keynote address at Global E-Learning International Best Practice Conference, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

Greg Sales, PhD, CEO, Seward Learning, is an educational technology expert with extensive experience working in the fields of corporate e-learning, teacher education, higher education, research, instructional design, and curriculum development. He has worked for a wide variety of clients including corporations, schools, universities, US govt. agencies, and Ministries of Education around the world. In addition to designing, creating, and evaluating customized education and training solutions that address specific learning challenges, Greg has provided guidance in the development of comprehensive and sustainable strategies to organizations seeking to improve system-wide learning outcomes and productivity. Greg has been working in the field of technology-based learning since 1976.

Paul Howe, BS, Vice President of Sales at Allen Interactions. Paul has been in the industry for the last 20 years, 18 of which have been with Allen Interactions. As the 6th employee of Allen Interactions, expert instructional designer and Authorware developer, Paul has excelled in many roles, holding executive-level positions in both sales and operations. Since 1993, Paul has provided strategic learning and consulting services for more than 200 major organizations, examples of which include: American Express, AT&T, Cummins, Ecolab, Essilor, Intel, Lucent, LSI, Merck, Motorola, UPS, Verizon etc. He also has a vast array of speaking experience at industry trade-shows and association events in topics such as localization, gaming & learning, instructional design, and process.

Robb Jacobs, President, Rivertown Communications. For more than 25 years, Robb has been designing, creating, and delivering technology-based training materials including e-learning courses, web-delivered educational content, and video productions. An experienced media producer, writer, and instructional designer, his credits include productions for the Minnesota Secretary of State, Minnesota Departments of Human Services/Health/ Agriculture, USDA, 3M, Center for Disease Control, Andersen Windows, Target Stores, and the British Home Office. He has participated in the President’s Council on Disability Policy, is a member of the Brown College Advisory Board, and has taught video production at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas TX. He is member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept. Underwater Search & Recovery team.

Sue Mehrkens, MS, Senior Instructional Designer for Honeywell Building Solutions. She recently served as a Change and Learning Super User on a nationwide SAP software project. She also designs and develops online assessments for Honeywell field technicians. Before Honeywell, she worked in various training/technical writing roles at two large medical device companies, three state agencies, and three school systems and managed her own consulting firm for six years. Sue is currently External Communications Co-Chair and Past President of MNISPI. She is also an active member of DLF, ISPI, PACT and ASTD SIGs. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and obtained a Training and Development Certificate from the University of Minnesota.
