ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Facebook for the EnterpriseAs organizations become geographically diverse and employees increasingly mobile, the enterprise finds itself trying to deal with the challenge of knowledge silos created when using traditional software teamrooms like SharePoint and the IBM Lotus Collaboration Suite. The teamroom software is great for formally managing projects, but often fails miserably to encourage collaboration.
Responding to this challenge, Honeywell implemented Yammer, which is a private, cloud-based, microblogging tool. In this presentation, Rich Hoeg will take you through the process of gaining acceptance for this service through Honeywell's production rollout. Expect a live demo of Honeywell's Yammer environment.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Rich Hoeg is Lead Project Manager for Honeywell Corporate Information Technology.
Rich's Honeywell career has followed the rise of the micro-computer and the world wide web. Back in the 1980's, he started Honeywell's computer training program. In the 1990's, Rich built some of Honeywell's first internal and external web services, and now, in the new century, after having built Honeywell's eLearning and virtual library portal, the focus is knowledge collaboration / sharing tools for Honeywell. In summation, he is trying to build the "virtual water cooler"!
Recent internal projects include the creation of a collaboration portal, a micro-blogging network, wikis, a social search / tagging engine, and technology podcasts. External projects include SEO and web analytics. On most of these same systems or services, Rich has both extensive content development and product admin knowledge.
